My old engineering company has an airplane that they would let Blago use to fly all over the state. I think they used it as an off the books donation. They also donated at least $10k in cash, the owner actually was over multiple companies and each company donated $10k.

Steve Carrol not funny. The Office was funny the first two or three seasons not so much after that.

It's Always Sunny is funny, as is Testees. I'm starting to think that FX has the best original shows in tv.

i did like crystal pepsi, but i only had it a few times. i remember it having a vaguely fruity taste. wikipedia has this bit of citation-needed goodness:

"Crystal Pepsi is now available in Mexico as Pepsi Clear."

once again, mexican sodas prove to be shockingly ahead of the curve...

bryan, don't buy a record player. your stereo is nowhere near capable of reproducing the full content of those albums from a CD source, so realizing any slight dynamic range benefits in the vinyl editions is out of the question. a completely separate issue is all the noise you're going to introduce passing an old pawn shop record player into a phono preamp and then another cheap receiver before it gets to your existing underpowered receiver. there's also the inconvenience of keeping the records cleaned. so unless you're prepared to spend more on your stereo than you spent on your car, CDs will always sound better than vinyl for you.

I think Steve Carrol is a riot. The Office is the perfect show for him.

Bryan,

Vinyl does not always sound better than CD's. In fact, it just plain won't unless you spend more money that you'd ever imagined. The guys who are in to vinyl in a major way either have tons of money($50K +) wrapped up in their systems or are knowledgeable enough to literally build their own components (cartridges out of wood, diamond, and magnets; hand made tube phono pre amps;). Phono tends to have an extremely low signal to noise ratio. Higher end CD players most definitely do not. The advantage to a high end CD player is that for about $3,500 you can have a cd player with 4 24 bit DAC's, great dynamic range, unparalleled channel seperation, huge power supplies using copper or gold leads, and clocks good enough to have no noticeable jitter. To sum it up, for that price you can have your cd's sound as good as a $50,000 Vyger turntable without having to spend $15,000 on a pre amp. Today's cd's are compressed, have no dynamic range, and in some cases, limited bandwidth. A modern over compressed vinyl recording would actually cause damage to your stylus/cartridge. If hi-fi is something you are truly interested in, let me know. Not only would you be welcome to come over and audition different types of gear, but I could hook up up with some very interesting pieces as well.
